Big Red

One of my daughters and her husband live on a farm site of 10 or 15 acres.  I got together with her and 2 of my other daughters on Saturday.  We went shopping while the guys hunted pheasants.  There is this big barn on their place.  I haven't showed pictures before because I couldn't find them in my archives.

I'm sorry I didn't get around to visiting and commenting much last week.  It was a very busy week.  I spent 2 days in the Twin Cities for the funeral.  Thanks  to all of you that sent prayers.  They were very much appreciated and were felt.

Barn Quilts

Here are a couple of barns with quilts I found while at my daughter's back in August.  This first one is a twofer.  A white barn with a quilt and a typical red barn. These were taken at dusk.

The next one was taken in the middle of the day with bright sunlight.  I really like the blue sky and the white barn with the blue barn quilt.

Green Day

These photos are for Green Day over at Raindrops and Daisys.  This is a house plant that I rooted from a couple of leaves from my daughter's plant.  I don't remember the name of it.  Does anyone know?  I'll have to ask my daughter.

Another daughter gave  me this basket of mums.  This is what it looked like when she gave it to me about a month ago.

This is what it looks like now.  I'm going to plant the mums and hopefully they will look like this next year.

Milk weeds

These pictures are a little dark and dreary.  Maybe that is my mood today.  It is cold and rainy here but that is a good thing because we need the rain so bad.

I saw the pulmonary doctor on Tuesday.  He didn't have an answer for my shortness of breath, other than he thinks it is obstructive.  He wants to see the scan I had after my thyroid cancer surgery a year ago.  He said that can sometimes cause obstruction in the airways of the neck.  I also have slight sleep apnea and he wants me to try the CPAP to see if that helps.

I won't be posting and commenting as much as I have to get caught up on things around here.  Plus I took a water color painting class and want to do some of that. I also have several pieces of furniture I want to paint. So if you don't see me around as much it is not because I've forgotten you.  I just have a lot I want to do.

Century Farm

This barn is part of a century farm...meaning the farm has been in the same family for 100 years or more.  A friend of mine and her husband bought it after her grandfather died and no one else in the family wanted it.  She and her husband are keeping it up and using it for weekend getaways and family gatherings.  I took these pictures several years ago one evening when I went to visit them.

I had a busy weekend and put 477 miles on the car.  I took my friend who has Parkinson's to his daughter's in Onamia on Friday to see his grandsons play football.  They lost their game.  The first one they have lost all year.  Then on Saturday we went to the University of Minnesota football game.  They lost too.  On Sunday  I watched the Minnesota Vikings and they lost too.  So much for watching football all weekend.  What did you do this weekend?

Barbed Wire Fence

We don't see many of this type of barbed wire fence around here anymore.  I suppose it's because farms have grown larger it isn't necessary to fence off their property.  It is still used where farmers have cows and horses, but most of them have wooden fences.

Abandoned Farm Site

 I came upon this abandoned farm site the other day while out for a drive.  There is a silo but no barn. There is an old house, some bins and a few other little buildings.  I hate seeing these places abandoned and this is such a pretty one with the pond!

I would have loved to explore this old house but didn't dare go any farther.

Lake Shetek State Park

.    This is the Maple tree in my back yard on Sunday.

After a very windy day yesterday this is what it and my lawn looked like Tuesday evening.  I think I have a lot of work ahead!

I'm so glad I took a drive on Sunday when the weather was beautiful as were the fall colors.  My drive took me to Lake Shetek State Park where the trees were gorgeous.  I hope you won't get sick of seeing them.

There were a few bikers and a few campers but for the most part the park was pretty empty.

This last picture is where I took my first swimming lessons before the swimming pool was built.  I thought the beach was much much bigger than this.
